Faculty Partners Program (FPP)
In order to recruit a tenured or tenure-track faculty member, the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Programs works with the prospective faculty member and their partner in support of the partner’s job search.
Working with the Faculty Partners Program
Faculty candidates are encouraged to arrange a meeting with the Faculty Partners Program (FPP) to review the type of support that may be offered to their partners. FPP staff can arrange a confidential, informational meeting to answer questions from the faculty candidate. Contact with the FPP is confidential and information is not shared with the department running the search or with MIT’s administrative leaders, until or unless the partner provides permission to do so.
Services offered
The FPP provides partners of prospective new hire faculty with development of a customized search strategy and assistance with networking by making introductions, connecting them to relevant resources and identifying opportunities at MIT and neighboring institutions, non-profits, and industry. The FPP works closely with neighboring institutions to maximize access to opportunities across a range of disciplines. The FPP also provides coaching, CV/resume review, assistance with written communications and mock interviews, as well as access to FPP’s portal, which features job search resources and information. Faculty candidates and their partners will be given access to FPP’s portal (which includes important job search resources and information) upon meeting with FPP.
Participation in the FPP does not guarantee employment, nor influence the outcomes of hiring committees. Questions pertaining to work authorization for international faculty partners should be directed to the relevant offices at each hiring institution or organization.
